Our Pun-Filled Nation Represented With Food

Chris Durso combine his passion for art and food to create a pun-tastic project aptly called “Foodnited States of America.” The idea actually came from his son who suggested representing each state with a food item and attaching a clever name for each one after walking by a map of the U.S. The graphic artist-turned food blogger of Foodiggity.com knew he had something when people started flooding him with ideas for the culinary state puns from coworkers to social media fans. Though some food used to represent certain states are actual regional specialties such as “Swissconsin” and “Kaleifornia,” Durso admits other aspects supersede the culinary factor: “There are three things to consider: What the state pun is going to sound like, what the word looks like and how the photo is going to be produced.” Our personal favorite would have to be “Pork Lo Maine.”
