Photographer Finds Beauty in Dirty Puddles

Creative people can see the beauty out of anything from potholes to garbage or in Jason Nocito’s case, puddles collecting in the streets of New York. Aptly titled PUD, the New York-based photographer created the series while walking around the Big Apple with his head down in deep thought and noticing the colorful puddles. Taken with a large format 8×10 view camera, he would walk around in the early morning taking pictures of the iridescent runoffs with their colorful reflections of storefronts mostly around his neighborhood in Chinatown and some across the country, although one would never know it just by looking at the image. Street photography taken literally, the series warrants the viewer to look past the disgust and see the abstract beauty in the puddles, floaters and all.
