Photographer Predicts What Beach-Goers Might Be Wearing in the Future
A visit to California for an engagement photo shoot brings a shocking revelation to Michael Dyrland and it was a matter he couldn’t ignore. After being told by his friend that they couldn’t surf right after a rain spell because it’s the time when the waters are polluted with sewage and garbage runoff, the Washington-based photographer created ‘HAZMAT Surfing‘ in hopes of raising awareness about the dire matter of our oceans. In partnership with Surfrider Foundation, an organization dedicated to cleaning up our beaches, the series brings to light what a day at the beach might look like as close as 20 years from now should we continue to turn our eyes away from the rising levels of pollution. Dyrland plans on taking the series globally with his next stop being the waters of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
