Signs You Can Anticipate to See in the Future

Fernando Barbella anticipates a slew of new signs to match the technologies of the future with his Tumblr project “Signs From the Near Future.” The digital creative director has been in tuned with the smart and robotic technologies currently making waves in the world today like autonomous driving, nano-medicine, and 3D food printers. The new technologies gave him an eye-opening realization that some icons widely used today are outrageously outdated such as the floppy disk for saving a file. Barbella is jumping ahead of the game by designing images we can anticipate to see in the future and currently in the works include images for the Hyperloop, a conceptual high-speed transporation system, and more smart glasses images. According to him, the project aims “to expose a point of view, and to make visitors think about how far and how fast we want to go in this technological race.”
