Skeletal Sculptures Made of Driftwood

Giovanni Longo gives weathered driftwood salvaged from the unforgiving elements of the ocean a second life with his collection “Fragile Skeletons.” The Italian artist came across using driftwood as a source to create incredible animal skeletal sculptures quite accidentally. While studying about human aging, he came upon a worn driftwood while taking a walk along the beach and was captured by its beauty. According to him, “I immediately realized that I had found a material of value, natural and sincere, fearlessly showing its own past.” The painstaking process of creating each sculpture involves a meticulous study of the animal’s original structure to achieve the most precise anatomical accuracy.
