Transforming Images Into a Kaleidoscope of Vibrant Colors

Josh Byer adds a dazzling touch to his artwork with the use of swirling colors in an electrifying technique that makes it look like the images are melting into each other. Inspired by Matisse, Cubism, Pointillism, and Fauvism – a technique used by modern French artists known for its emphasis on bold colors to represent images and emotions, the multi-talented Canadian artist calls his approach as Faux Fauvism. Each line is drawn on using acrylic paint markers and gel pens leading Byer to focus more on elevating each image with vibrant and intense hues.
Look out for his first solo exhibition in the U.S. at the Burien Arts Gallery in June.
