Watch a Japanese Artisan Turn a Block of Wood into a Kokeshi Doll

Tetotetote, an organization highlighting the arts and crafts of Sendai, Japan documents how Yasuo Okazaki turns solid blocks of wood into Kokeshi dolls. Kokeshi dolls or Japanese dolls are handmade wooden figurines with an enlarged head and cylindrical body said to have been made as souvenirs to sell to people visiting hot springs in Northern Japan.
